SOH Interview - Sept 3 2006
A SOH special interview - Ms. Chin-Yunn Yang.Chin-Yunn is a communications assistant for a global corporation in her native Switzerland. She is a graduate of New York University and a researcher on the Chinese Communist Party’s control of information and communication.. She has presented her findings at symposiums in Europe and the United States.
On September 3 2006, Chin-Yunn contacted us at SOH NY radio with suprising news of her latest efforts. As you may know, Gao Zhisheng, China’s most reknowned human rights attorney, was arrested in China after 8 months of heavy surveillance and 3 assassination attempts on his life. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
Chin-Yunn wrote a letter to the Olympic committee requesting their help in pressuring China for the release of Gao. At the time, to emphasize her commitment to the goals of human rights represented by Gao, Chin-Yunn had gone on a hunger strike and indicated that she would continue to do so until his release. Her hunger strike lasted 29 days.
On September 3rd, Chin-Yunn, who is now in Switzerland, spoke with SOH interviewers Drew Carlucci, Teresa Tan, and Arleen Richards, Esq., producer for Legal Briefs and special field correspondent.
