Breaking News – 10,000 people protest in Yongshun County
According to sources, on the 13th of March over 10,000 farmers protested in front of Yongshun County Government in Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province. There were also protests at the county’s transportation levy office
Chief of June 4th Justice Website, Huang Qi disclosed that a lorry driver of Yongshun County, Liu Guan-Yong, was stopped and searched by a transportation levy officer. A scuffle broke out between the two men and the officer was accidentally crushed to death by the truck. Instantly a group of levy officers surrounded Liu and began beating him until most of his limbs were broken. They then dragged him to the local police.
Upon residence finding out the details of the confrontation they formed a protest to show their firm disagreement against the all too prevalent violence that is commonly used by police and guards.
Liu Jin, a local said that it is a common phenomenon for officers to resort to violence in the process of law enforcement, and the commoners of China have been pushed and trodden on for so long, which has triggered such an incident. He appealed to the county government to immediately release the dozens of villagers in detention that were arrested during the protests.
