Breaking News – Ceremony for Global Human Rights Torch Relay enters China
On Sunday 23rd of March, through various mean, the Global Human Rights Torch Relay, organised by the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG), entered Mainland China. A public ceremony was held in Hong Kong, during which a joint statement co-signed by many organizations was announced. The statement emphasised that the same world should have the same human rights.
The ceremony was held in Cheung Sha Wan playground in Kowloon, and a joint statement “Human Rights Torch Relay in China” co-signed by over 40 organizations was read out. The joint statement said: We spread the Human Rights Torch Relay to inform the Chinese communist party and the World: In our hearts, we do not share the same dream of the Chinese communist party. We call on the Chinese people to courageously welcome the Human Rights Torch Relay, and use various means to spread the Human Rights Torch; and start a big wave of peoples’ action against all kinds of persecution and brutality by the violent Chinese communist party.
The Chairman of the New Peoples’ Party in Mainland China, Guo Quan also read out a statement through a pre-recorded message. He pointed out the Chinese communist party has not kept its promise of improving human rights when bidding for the Olympic games. This has resulted in severe human rights violations in Mainland China. The New Peoples’ Party of China fully supports the Human Rights Torch Relay in Mainland China.
The ceremony was presided over by Si Tu Hua, the deputy head of the CIPFG Asia branch, and chairman of the Joint Support Coalition. Si Tu Hua said, “Hong Kong is the only place in China that still has freedom, human rights and rule of law, and it is geographically closest to Mainland China. Therefore, it is our duty to join in the spread of the Human Rights Torch Relay in Mainland China.”
Another member of CIPFG Asia branch, and member of Hong Kong legislative assembly, Liang Guo Xiong condemned the Chinese communist party used lies to bid for the Olympics. He said that such a despotic regime is not qualified to host the Olympics.
Before the ceremony ended, Si Tu Hua and many other speakers posted the yellow and blue silk ribbons, which signify the Torch relay in Mainland China onto the Human Rights Torch Symbol. Afterwards, they held the Human Rights Torch tied with yellow and blue ribbons high in air and began to march with more than 500 people.
