On March 25, Tianjin No 2 Intermediate People’s Court started to inquire into the case against Chen Liangyu, former Party Secretary of The Shanghai Chinese Communist Party Committee. This is the highest level corruption case against officials from elsewhere.

On the day, there was obvious security reinforcement at the entrance of Tianjin No 2 Intermediate People’s Court, with police spreading out and sealing off the entire court. People nearby or those who came to the court for business were told to leave.

According to legal sources, Tianjin No 2 Intermediate People’s Court has already sent personnel to Beijing Qincheng Prison to go through related procedures to bring Chen Liangyu to trial. The court has also prepared a medical team for Chen.

Inside sources predict that during the trial, the court will most likely clear out the court and conduct a closed trial. Media that request to be present will also be refused.
