Breaking News - The Human Rights Torch Relay reaches Heilongjiang
“The Human Rights Torch Relay around China” began on the 23rd of March 2008. Subsequently, activities for the Human Rights Torch relay took place in the cities of Jinan in Shandong, Beijing, Shanghai and Guizhou. On the 1st of April, the “Human Rights Torch Relay” slogan was posted at many street intersections in Daqing city of Heilongjiang – the city in which China Petrochemical Corporation is based.
“The Human Rights Torch Relay around China” initiated jointly by 45 overseas organizations has began its spread around China. For the security of participants, the human rights torch relay has proceeded in special forms such as information pamphlets, multimedia broadcasts, and yellow ribbons, with the theme “One world, one human rights”. On the 1st of April, slogans and the symbols for the Human Rights Torch Relay could be seen in many places of Daqing city, Heilongjiang.
The “Human Rights Torch Relay” was initiated by the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG), with the resolve to put an end to the persecution of Falun Gong. This torch was lit on the 9th of August, 2007, in Athens, where it began a phenomenal global relay.
The “Human Rights Torch Relay” has also reached the USA, while another branch of the relay began its tour in China near the end of March this year.
