Farmers residing in Long Jiaquan in Shandong have had their land, which was under a 30-year lease, forcefully taken back by the Chinese Communist government.
Resident Lei Shuduen told SOH reporters on April 20th that in May of 2007, the county police dispatched 200 policemen who forcibly took his land, which was under a 30-year lease. He claimed the police said it was for road upgrades. The police destroyed 700 vegetable awnings and ready-to-harvest grape trees with not a cent of compensation. In 2008, the local government contracted to sell 150 acres of the leased land for tens of millions of dollars, and the farmers again received nothing from the proceeds.

Resident Lu told the reporter that the government at all levels is implicated in this and has left them with no one to turn to. He said they have petitioned many times in Beijing with no one wanting to deal with the case. Mr Lu stated that many officials are part of the same corrupt system. Mr Lu had spent much of their saved money in law suites only to be told in the end that his land leases were forgeries, and in light of that, were refused compensation

At the end of 2007, the government hired thugs to attack a number of petitioners. When these families arrived back in their hometowns after petitioning in Beijing the thugs attacked them. They found out that the county government ordered 200 people to persecute anyone who made any complaint about the situation.

The above news is brought to you by special reporter Lu Fang, Xiong Bing and hosted by Daniel Teng for Breaking News on SOH Radio Network.
