On 21 April evening, the performance of Divine Performing Arts in Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall brought the long awaited Chinese cultural showcase to Hawaii.

Approximately half of Hawaii’s population are Asians, the majority of which are of Chinese ancestry.

A mother and son who enjoyed the Spectacular in Hawaii are fourth-generation Chinese immigrants and said the show made them proud of the Chinese Culture.

Rodwin Wong is a local lawyer; he came with his mother and a real estate expert friend to see the performance.

Rodwin said she felt the performance was splendid, like nothing he has ever seen before. “We do not have the opportunity to see such a performance; I am very pleased to see it in Honolulu. As a Chinese, I feel that the performance has displayed the rich Chinese culture, its long history. It is a pity that such an excellent performance is rare in the West”.

Jim Arquette who came with Rodwin and his mother is a real estate expert; he said “to me, this performance is more artistic; usually I only look at the Chinese martial arts show.” He also mentioned that the performance sent a very good message. “I like “The Power of Awareness” program. I think human beings should have freedom of speech, the Government should not be suppressed. In addition, I also love to see the drum beating; because I like very strong energy stuff.
