Breaking News- Costs of the Sichuan earthquake continues to rise

As of the 29th of May, costs related to the earthquake reached an estimated RMB 67 billion Yuan. Officials of China’s National Defence Science and Technology Industrial Development Bureau said that China’s aerospace and defence industry production line had been “seriously damaged in the quake, pushing costs even higher.

Chengdu area of Sichuan has always been one of the key military industry related production bases in China, including the Chengdu Aircraft factory and Mianzhu nuclear research base. According to reports, the production plans of “Annihilate -10″, Xiaolong fighter “FC-1″ manufactured by Chengdu Aircraft Manufacturing Group may be set back due to the quake.

However, a few days after the earthquake the Chinese military denied that the nuclear research base facilities have suffered any damage in the region.

In addition, the earthquake has also led to a shortage of coal stock. It is estimated that large reserves of coal power plants declined by more than 10% and according to statistics, more than 290 coalmines in Sichuan were affected in the quake.
