Breaking News - Sichuan earthquake victims participate in the Human Rights Torch Relay
In recent days, victims of the Sichuan earthquake have participated in the Human Rights Torch Relay. They believe the extent of casualty and damage by the earthquakes owes greatly to shoddy constructions which have killed many innocent students. The victims also welcome the Human Rights Torch Relay as they perceive the Chinese Communist Party as disregarding human life in its failure to announce earthquake predictions and the inadequate relief efforts leaving many without basic living conditions.
Mr Wang, a participant of the Human Rights Torch Relay says that victims are fighting for their rights after corrupt and shoddy construction left many children dead. He walked around busy areas in the city wearing the Human Rights Torch Relay t-shirt which is also being sold online.
Another participant Mr Yei says that those who live under the rule of the CCP are without basic living rights. There were predictions prior to the earthquakes but officials withheld the information, with the aim to preserve the Olympics. Me Yei also said that all the earthquake victims are yearning for the arrival of the Human Rights Torch.
A Mr Li told reporters that the most important thing for victims is to have adequate food. He expressed that human rights should be valued above all, and that the government has done nothing about it.
