Tiananmen was very nervous on June 4; The Ministry of Public Security officials personally went into battle, command was given inside a black Buick car at the east side of the square to check the tourists.
Police were more strict on Chinese people than foreigners when they did the inspection, all the people with backpacks were checked, except for foreigners. Armed police were wearing weapons and police were wearing police items such as (electric batons, handcuffs and small gas spray, anti-riot guns). At the same time, there was an increase of plainclothes police, men wear tourist shoes at the flagpole were plainclothes police, they were watching every move of the tourists who were shooting.
As it was a sensitive day in Tiananmen Square on June 4, there were not many tourists, perhaps it was the heavy guarding that affect the tourists’ emotions, in short there was only a few tourists. However, there were many people who were arrested in the Tiananmen region.
