Breaking News – Parents petitioning over earthquake arrested
Parents from a primary school at the deadly earthquake zone of Dujiangyan in Sichuan, gathered a petition to urge the Government, on the twenty first, to provide answers relating to the investigation of the school building collapse. There they clashed with a large number of special police at the scene, a number of parents were injured and at least three people were arrested.
A parent at the scene said in an interview, “Yesterday there were about two hundred parents at the court and I do not why the special police came, there were many of them. They beat up one parent first, they pulled her hair and as she was fell to the floor, her husband went to help as well as other parents, but the special police arrest them and put them in the police car. A man has been wounded and was sent to the hospital. About four parents were arrested, we then demand the Government to release the parents that were arrested.”
Another parent from that school, Mr He also confirmed the news of the parent’s arrest during the petition “Yesterday, the reason for petition was because the school building collapsed and there seemed to be several people arrested.”
An official from Dujiangyan earthquake relief press, Mr Ma said that he had not heard of the news when the Sound of Hope reporter asked him.
