Breaking News - Democracy activists suppressed ahead of the Beijing Olympics
The Chinese Communist Regime has continued its heavy-handed approach in the oppression against dissidents. On June twenty seventh, Communist officials summoned five Hangzhou dissidents while members of China Democratic party continue to be arrested by the regime. CDP’s Gansu representative Yue Tianxiang who was recently released from jail was illegally detained again after visiting relatives in Shanghai on June eighteenth.
Zhejiang democratic activist Zou Wei said that although the Chinese Communist regime made a promise to improve human rights when it accepted the Olympic games, the fact is that the human rights situation has not improved. On the contrary, it has adopted heavy-handed approaches to oppress dissidents who voice a different opinion.
Zou said officials who were investigating Yue Tianxiang warned him not to participate in tea gatherings of the CDP. Zou said it was obvious that the regime intends to further control the thought of its people. Zou believes that a stable society ahead of the Olympic Games cannot be achieved through high pressured oppressive methods against those with a different view.
Wang Rongqing had been arrested on several occasions for voicing his aid for attorney Gao Zhishen and other rights activists like Guo Fexiong and Chen Shuqing. Officials interviewed Wang after organising fundraising events for the Sichuan earthquake in May.
