Taiwan businessmen in Zhejiang Mainland China say that Jiashan will prepare to limit power supplies in July, however, the Taiwan-funded enterprises will increase the cost of production.
A Taiwan-funded enterprise manager in Jiashan City said that if a part of the workshop was willing to do production in the evening, it could save massive costs on air-conditioning power consumption to overcome local power supply limits. Another managing director of a Taiwan-funded enterprise in Jiashan said that companies in Dongguan of Guangdong have, since the beginning of this year, have been forced to “work four days and stop one day” or “work three days and stop two days”. A similar situation wasn’t expected to happen in the Yangtze River Delta.

According to a statement by a CCP official, the reason power shortages in the cities of Shanghai, Jiangsu, and around the Yangtze River, is because of a “gap in coal reserves”. But Taiwan businessmen familiar with the situation say that’s just deceiving common folk. The main reason for the power shortage is because of recent increases in oil price and the price of electricity being frozen for two years. The rise in coal price will cause the power plant to lose one cent per unit of electricity generated. Power plants often refuse to run at full capacity even if they have signed a contract.
