Breaking News – Chinese laws are child’s play if earthquake investigations neglected
Former Chinese top level structural engineer Xia Yifan and Beijing lawyer Wei Rujio equated Chinese legislation to child’s play in the wake of the Sichuan disaster. Their comments come after twenty experts said in a conference that the main cause of collapsed buildings during the May twelfth earthquake was the earthquake itself, and that lucky survivors should have a rational view of the future. Xia and Wei said that by siding their professional knowledge with the policies of the Chinese communist regime, the engineers have departed from the basic standards of professionalism.
He said according to Chinese criminal law, even if other elements are present, if serious consequences are caused by a breach of legal obligation, the person in breach is criminally responsible. In other words, those in breach of law shouldn’t escape legal liability, just because the earthquake was one of the reasons behind the damage and collapse of buildings.
Wei says that designers, inspectors and managers behind the construction must be held legally accountable; otherwise it means the same mistakes will be made again. Wei said that if there were no investigation, laws would be no more than child’s play.
Xia compared the response of the Japanese government to that of the Chinese communist regime in the wake of recent earthquake disasters and concluded that the biggest problem is the vast difference in social structure. Due to corruption and poor organisation, the CCP regime couldn’t respond to the earthquake disaster in an effective and efficient manner.
