Breaking News - Impact fears over one hundred million single children in China
The number of single children in China under the one child policy has exceeded one hundred million, according to a conference co-hosted by the Shanghai China Population Welfare Foundation.
Director of the State Family Planning Commission’s Xie Lingli said during the Conference that to improve quality of life the present single child must negotiate five main obstacles. Personality, psychology, emotional quotient, environment and living independence. Xie says these five obstacles stem from a lack of progress in public education, the shrinking of the modern family and early education of single children.
Professor Peng Xije, head of the Development and Public Policy Department in Fudan University pointed out that the single child model is not an ideal family model. Professor Peng said that the model has a very serious negative impact on the stability and the progression of traditional culture of the Chinese family.
