China sentences 8 monks in Tibet for bombing

According to Chinese official media on October 14, Tibet’s Chamdo District Court judge announced the verdict on eight Tibetan monks allegedly accused of setting off a bomb in Gyanbe Townships government building in Chamdo District in March this year. Two of them were sentenced for life with six others recieving five to fifteen-years imprisonment. It is reported that the explosion did not cause casualties or property damages. (more…)
