			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Tonwei County Department of Education in Gansu province verified the incident after investigations confirmed that Principal Liu Peifun of Majiadian Primary School ripped an ear off a female student while handing out corporal punishment. This extremely negative incident led to the Department’s decision to stand down the Principal.<span id="more-1427"></span></p>
<p>The Department of Education began investigations into the corporal punishment after the incident was revealed. It happened on the morning of April 15, Liu was the substitute teacher, and due to the slow scribing speed of a 12 year old female student, Liu grabbed her left ear so hard that half the ear was ripped from the girl.</p>
<p>According to sources, the victim received reattachment surgery that afternoon. It is not known whether she will make a full recovery. It is unknown whether her family will sue for the incident.</p>
