According to SOH sources, 5 counties in Kunming, Yunnan province are suffering from severe droughts, with some regions receiving no rain for 4~5 months. With the spring time perfect for farming, crops are severely damaged and residents are unable to access drinking water, resorting to people drinking slurry.

In the morning of 5th March Jinan coal mine was on fire and led to 17 people being killed in Dongliao town of Jilin City. The accident was under investigation and rehabilitation resettlement work is in progress.

On March 4 Xinjiang Health Department announced in the statutory infectious diseases circular that this year, a Xinjiang measles epidemic expanded more than previous years significantly. From January to February the number of reported measles cases exceeded 11,000 cases, already claiming 21 lives.
